Two married couples shot, killed while playing cards at kitchen table
A North Carolina sheriff says four elderly people were found dead Monday morning after an apparent home invasion.
Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp told local media on Monday that a family member found the bodies after checking on the home in the Glenview community, just off Interstate 95 north of Rocky Mount.
The sheriff says the home was invaded sometime between Sunday and Monday morning, and some items are missing, but there were no signs of a struggle.
He said two of the victims lived in the home, while the other two victims were visiting.
According to WRAL, the names of the victims have not been released but authorities said they were two married couples.
All four had been shot while playing cards at the kitchen table.
"It's very much upsetting. I knew two of these people personally," the sheriff said.
Investigators handed out fliers in the area asking if anyone had seen anything suspicious.
