One of the Austrian railroad operators together with Germany’s Siemens Mobility revealed a prototype of a battery-powered train.

The train is designed to operate on the non-electrified rail lines as an alternative to diesel-powered vehicles, Railway Technology reported.

According to the developers, the new train can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 50% compared to diesel trains.
